Kitchen aids to create a clever and calm kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It’s where meals are cooked and consumed, where aromatic flavours are shared and enjoyed. It’s a place for the family to gather and for good friends to linger. Kitchens are also a place of chaos and of mess. Lots of mess. But they’re also places of creations, for recipe trials and tribulations, new gadgets and unusual taste combinations. Here, we put a few of our favourite kitchen aids to the test and see if they help improve our busy lives and create a calm kitchen.

Kitchen aids to help start the day

The day just starts better with coffee. Before I met JURA Z10, my morning ritual looked like this: my toddler and I would arrive at our favourite café by 7am (according to him, sleep-ins still don’t exist). For my son, I’d order a babycino. For me, a double-shot latte on house-made almond and macadamia milk. It was a ritual we both loved. Then, sadly, the café stopped making their own nut milk. I was outraged. I was so devastated that they gave me their very own nut milk recipe. Now I make my double-shot nut milk latte from home and not only do I save money, petrol and time, my coffee tastes better. JURA’s easy touchscreen means I can choose from espresso, flat white, cold brew, decaf and many more coffee options. The smart machine utilises 3D brewing technology, has an automatic bean grinder and bean monitor and can connect to Wi-Fi! Its sleek design looks great in my home-office and the caffeine is a welcomed aroma by both me and my colleague (husband).

For the love of grains

I’m notoriously terrible at cooking rice; I just can’t seem to get it soft and fluffy. Now, thanks to the clever Nutribullet EveryGrain Cooker, I am a pro at cooking grains because it takes out all the guesswork. A bonus to this clever kitchen machine is the extra addition of grains into my family’s diet. Not only does my son love white rice, oats and quinoa, he also eats buckwheat, red rice, millet and amaranth. His grain palette is more refined than mine! With an easy cooking guide, the machine makes cooking grains easy, efficient and mess-free!

Smoothies for extra nutrition

In my house, the Nutribullet Blender Combo 1200 is used daily to make smoothies, nut milk for my coffee, dips, soups and raw desserts. With four different jugs and three different settings, there’s not much this blender cannot do. Perfectly suited to family life, the all new Blender Combo allows me to effortlessly blend and extract nutrients, as well as switch between single-serving cups and large-capacity pitchers. This do-it-all device is equipped with three speed settings including a pulse function and extraction program and has the additional capability to blend hot foods and liquids when the 1.8L pitcher is in use. This blender is a mum hack I didn’t even know I needed!

Time to fry

I admit I was late to the air fryer trend. To be honest, I didn’t get what all the fuss was about until I tried the NutriBullet XXL Digital 7L Air Fryer. Two words: life-changing. My son is a curious (read: fussy) eater, so favourite foods can be hard to find. He loves crumbed fish, crispy salmon, chicken nuggets, homemade potato wedges, roasted carrots and more — all done in the air fryer! The best thing about the air fryer is it takes half the time and there’s much less mess. The NutriBullet Air Fryer comes with an easy-to-use guide that takes the guesswork out of cooking. Simply hit the pre-set cooking time and sit back and enjoy a glass of wine while the fryer takes care of the rest. Using this time-saving cooking aid has helped reintroduce vegetables back into my toddler’s diet and sneak a few extra into mine!
